Bollywood actor Tara Sutaria has opened up about how she’s learned to safeguard her mental peace in the face of persistent gossip and online negativity, especially surrounding her personal life in recent months. In a new interview, the Toxic star talked candidly about balancing the pressures of public scrutiny with her own sense of wellbeing, emphasising that inner calm and self-awareness have become her guiding priorities.
In the conversation with Elle India, Tara explained that growing up in the spotlight taught her early on that success is internal, and that true fulfilment comes from peace of mind, a supportive inner circle and a strong sense of self. “I’ve always believed success is internal. Peace of mind, a handful of people who love you, knowing yourself, that’s always been the goal….I’ve chosen my values over work, multiple times. But I would rather lose a film than lose myself.”
The actress highlighted that media speculation — particularly about her relationship with actor Veer Pahariya, which was widely discussed after a viral concert moment — can fuel a lot of noise, but she chooses not to engage with every narrative that circulates online. Tara pointed out that as long as she and those closest to her know the truth, that internal clarity sustains her through the rounds of attention and conjecture. “As long as I know the truth, and the people closest to me do, that’s enough,” the actor added.
