“It was a privilege to meet the family of our hero Param Vir Chakra Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, being portrayed by @diljitdosanjh, whose true story of unmatched bravery you will see in the film. Meeting his family was so warm and memorable. #Border2 is a salute to all soldiers and their families who carry their legacy with quiet courage.”

Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, the only Indian Air Force officer to be awarded the Param Vir Chakra, laid down his life during the 1971 India–Pakistan war while defending Srinagar airbase.

His courage remains a source of national pride, and in Border 2, his legacy is portrayed by Diljit Dosanjh, adding emotional depth to the film’s narrative.

Directed and co-written by Anurag Singh, Border 2 serves as a sequel to J.P. Dutta’s iconic 1997 film Border. While the original focused primarily on the Indian Army, the sequel widens its lens to present a multi-front war story, highlighting the combined efforts of the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy.

The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta under T-Series Films and J.P. Films.

Set against the backdrop of the 1971 war, Border 2 features Sunny Deol as Lieutenant Colonel Fateh Singh Kaler, a seasoned officer who mentors young soldiers portrayed by Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. The supporting cast includes Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, and Medha Rana, who add emotional grounding to the war narrative.

According to trading analyst, Border 2 has collected Rs 95.75 crore worldwide so far, reflecting strong audience response. More than its commercial success, moments like Sunny Deol’s meeting with Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon’s family underline the film’s deeper purpose—honouring sacrifice, remembering legacy, and paying tribute to the families who carry these stories forward with dignity and resilience.
