Veteran Bollywood actress Sharmila Tagore, who made her big-screen comeback recently in the Bengali film Puratawn, lives alone in Delhi and once asked for help from a random stranger on the street.

During a recent podcast with Nayandeep Rakshit, Sharmila Tagore’s daughter, Soha Ali Khan, recalled the time when the veteran actress asked for a lift to a stranger to reach an event location.

Soha revealed that despite her repeated requests, Sharmila Tagore would rather remain in Delhi and is not yet prepared to return to Mumbai.

Soha recalled the moment and said, “She was going to a book launch and there was too much traffic, so she got out of her car, hailed a woman on a scooter, and asked her to drop her closer to the venue. Then she got off that scooter, stopped someone else on a bike, and hopped on to reach near the event. I was like, ‘Amma, you are 80, and this is Delhi!’”

Soha suggested that her mother told her, “‘That person dropped me halfway, and I walked the rest of the way to the book launch.’”

Soha also discussed whether her mother intends to stay in the movie business after her return.

The actress revealed that Sharmila Tagore is presently indecisive. After declaring she would no longer work, she suddenly discovers a script that excites her.

Sharmila Tagore was diagnosed with lung cancer. Fortunately, it was discovered at stage zero, and the cancer was surgically removed. The veteran actress was spared chemotherapy.

Following her recuperation, Sharmila Tagore made a strong comeback to Bengali cinema after an 18-year hiatus with Suman Ghosh's psychological drama Puratawn.

Her performance was widely praised by critics, and the movie went on to become the fifth highest-grossing Bengali film of the year.  The seasoned actor has not yet revealed what her upcoming project will be.
