Siddharth Anand and Naga Vamsi rift

Bollywood and Telugu cinema circles have found themselves buzzing again, and this time it’s because of an unexpected social media exchange that has pushed producer Naga Vamsi back into conversation.

What seemed like a light dig from director Siddharth Anand has now turned into a talking point, arriving right when Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar is soaring at the box office and giving Bollywood a much-needed lift.

The film’s strong run—backed by glowing reviews for its gripping storyline, powerful performances and Aditya Dhar’s solid direction—has created a wave of positivity.

With Dhurandhar’s rise, old comparisons between Animal and the new release have resurfaced, stirring debate among different pockets of the industry. And in the middle of this renewed North–South conversation, Naga Vamsi’s name has unexpectedly resurfaced.

It all began when an X user casually posted a photo of Vamsi with the caption, “Where is this guy?”—a clear nod to his earlier remarks about Bollywood. Siddharth Anand, known for films like War, Fighter and Pathaan, jumped into the thread with a sharp reply: “Somewhere not getting sleep.”

The comment spread quickly, drawing amused and surprised reactions alike, though Siddharth deleted it not long after.

The reason behind the jab goes back to a round-table discussion Naga Vamsi once took part in with several Bollywood personalities, including producer Boney Kapoor.

During that conversation, he had made a statement that ruffled feathers in the Hindi film industry.

He said, “I don’t think the whole of Mumbai slept when Pushpa 2 collected over Rs 80 crore nett in a single day, especially on a Sunday.”

While Naga seemed to have moved on from the controversy long ago, those words clearly stayed with some Bollywood figures—and Anand’s recent reaction suggests the issue never fully faded.
