Actor Shahid Kapoor, who is currently seen in his latest release O' Romeo alongside Triptii Dimri, recently shared his thoughts on navigating online criticism and maintaining emotional balance in the age of social media.
Speaking on The Right Angle with Sonal Kalra, Season 3 — produced by Gautam Thakker Films — the actor addressed the pressures of public scrutiny and the importance of managing how much external opinion one allows to influence their mental space.
According to Shahid, striking a balance between being open to feedback and staying true to oneself is crucial. He emphasised that while public opinion is inevitable for someone in the spotlight, it should not overpower personal satisfaction and creative fulfilment.
He said, “It’s a difficult journey because you have to open up, but also be mindful of what & how much you allow to sit in your system. Do you want to wake every morning & make everyone happy or yourself happy? You need to reiterate to yourself, Did I have a good time? Did it help me grow? And was it a true representation of my creative energy? Ultimately, it needs to satisfy my hard work & the feeling of achieving something?”
Shahid also spoke candidly about how anonymity on social media platforms has blurred personal boundaries for many people. Reflecting on values instilled in him since childhood, he remarked, “I say it all the time, no matter what, people can call me old-fashioned, but Aapki bolne ki aukaat honi chahiye, tabhi mooh kholna chaiye, ye mujhe bachpan se sikhaya gya hai, Pehle aap dekho ki aap kitne paani mein ho, phir baat karo."
Highlighting the need for emotional resilience, he further added, "So you have to keep yourself calm amidst all this, of course, be open to constructive criticism, but at the same time fill yourself with positivity and back yourself up."
On the professional front, Shahid was recently seen in filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj’s O’ Romeo, which also features Tamannaah Bhatia and Avinash Tiwary in key roles.

With candid reflections on creative satisfaction and handling negativity, Shahid Kapoor continues to advocate for self-awareness and emotional balance while navigating the evolving dynamics of fame in the digital era.
