Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan was among the highlights of the Joy Awards 2026 held in Riyadh on January 17, where he took the lavender carpet and spoke warmly about Saudi Arabia’s culture and the reception he received.
Dressed sharply in a zipped black jacket, Khan expressed his deep appreciation for the “hospitality, warmth and dignity” extended to him by fans and locals during his visit. “I love the hospitality, the warmth, and the dignity that my fans in Saudi Arabia show me. To know my work is loved here feels special,” he told reporters.
During his interaction with reporters, the Pathaan actor also reflected on his time filming parts of his movie Dunki in the Kingdom. "It was lovely! The people, the food, and the culture is what make the place special," he added.
The Joy Awards 2026 ceremony brought together stars from around the world, with film, music and television personalities walking the vibrant lavender carpet. Alongside Khan, global names such as Katy Perry, Jeremy Renner and Millie Bobby Brown were spotted at the event, adding to the glamour and cross-cultural buzz. Tunisian actress Hend Sabry even shared with Gulf News that she, like many others, “always had a crush” on Khan. “As the vigilante in Jawan, he was brilliant ... I have always had a crush on him," added Hend to Gulf News.
The Joy Awards have increasingly become a platform where Arab, Hollywood and Bollywood talent converge, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s ambitions to be a melting pot of international entertainment. At the 2026 edition, this blend of stars and celebratory energy was evident throughout the evening, with attendees expressing admiration for the Kingdom’s efforts to foster a vibrant cultural scene.
