Mastiii 4 has landed in legal trouble after a well-known content creator, Ashish Sharma, filed a lawsuit against the producers in the Delhi High Court on January 6. The content creator alleged in his filing that a pivotal moment in the film is similar to his popular Instagram reel, which has received over 11 million views.
Ashish stated that a humorous scene in Mastiii 4 is similar to his January 2024 reel, Shaq Karne Ka Nateeja, according to Live Law. He also claims that the makers have allegedly plagiarised the main idea, plot, character relationships, and order of events without getting his permission or giving him credit.
The content creator also accused the makers of plagiarising the humorous punchline from his original work.
Alleging unauthorised use of his creative property, the content creator has requested a comprehensive profit report, financial recompense, and a permanent injunction against the film's producers.
Ashish Sharma's request for immediate relief was heard yesterday by Justice Tushar Rao Gedela, who presided over a single-judge panel. The court addressed a notice to the producers on the film's impending digital release, noting that they must be given the opportunity to respond before any interim order is taken into consideration.
The judge added that, considering the movie's current release date, a short notice period was suitable. The next scheduled hearing date for the case is January 13, 2026.
Mastiii 4 marks the return of the franchise’s iconic trio Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi, and Aftab Shivdasani. The film also featured Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Nargis Fakhri, Elnaaz Norouzi, Ruhi Singh, Shreya Sharma, and Shaad Randhawa in pivotal roles.
