Speaking at the Rising Bharat Summit 2026, held in New Delhi on Friday, actress Yami Gautam spoke about the overwhelming reaction received by filmmaker husband Aditya Dhar's film Dhurandhar and also revealed that she has already watched the much-awaited sequel, Dhurandhar 2, which is slated to release on March 19, 2026, and shared her deeply emotional reaction to it.
Elaborating on her first reaction after watching Dhurandhar 2, Yami said, "Main dekh chuki hun dhurandhar 2. It was beyond extraordinary."
She further added, "I was really emotional. Main bohot kuch kehna chahti thi but keh nhi paayi. I just said bye to him and main flight mein baithi as I had to catch a flight that day. Mujhe ek script padhni thi main padh nhi paayi, mujhe kuch dekhna tha main dekh nhi paayi. Main khdiki se bahar dekhrahi thi, ek khoobsurat si sunset ka nazaara tha (I wanted to say so many things, but I couldn’t. I just said bye to him and got on the flight, as I had to catch one that day. I was supposed to read a script, but I couldn’t. I wanted to watch something, but I couldn’t do that either. I just kept looking out of the window at a beautiful sunset)."
Speaking about Aditya's unwavering passion for his films and determination towards Dhurandhar, the Haq actress continued, "He loves his audience, loves his country. Unhone puri jaan lagadi to make this movie work. Aisa experience hoga jo audience nahi bhoolegi and aap garv se kahenge ki yeh ek Bhartiya film hai, ek Indian film hai aur Indian film industry se nikli hai. And we all standing together united and lets celebrate it (It will be an experience that the audience will never forget, and you will proudly say that this is an Indian film, a film that has come out of the Indian film industry. And we are all standing together, united — let’s celebrate it)."
Yami also recalled the first time she read the script of Dhurandhar. At the time, she was shooting for Article 370, and she admitted that she was moved to tears during her initial reading.
"I know kitni mehnat se inhone iss film par kaam kiya hai. Mehnat sabhi karte hain but jis honesty ke saath, jis truthfulness ke saath aur jis intention ke saath Aditya aur unki puri team, hume, ek aisi film banani hai- he believes that its about time that we need to be standing there globally shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the best names across the world and present ourselves and present that this is the new age cinema (I know how much hard work he has put into this film. Everyone works hard, but the honesty, the truthfulness, and the intention with which Aditya and his entire team set out to make this film)" she added.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar starred Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and Sara Arjun in key roles and went on to take the box office by storm. The film revolves around an undercover Indian intelligence agent who infiltrates Karachi’s criminal syndicates and political power structures in Pakistan to dismantle a terror network targeting India.
