Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh is riding high on Dhurandhar's success and it appears that he is now in a contemplative and decisive stage of his career.
The film’s blockbuster run has not only brought him massive box office numbers but has also prompted him to take a closer look at where he wants to head next creatively. Rather than rushing into familiar territory, the actor appears to be choosing his next steps carefully.
According to industry buzz, Ranveer Singh has stepped away from Farhan Akhtar’s long-awaited Don 3. While the film was expected to finally go on floors by the end of January 2026, his exit suggests a shift in priorities after the impact of Dhurandhar.
As per a report by Pinkvilla, a source explained his thinking clearly: “He is keen to collaborate with filmmakers like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Atlee, and at the same time, he doesn’t want to be seen in back-to-back gangster films, especially since Dhurandhar is already established in that space."
Rather than slowing down, Ranveer Singh is reportedly redirecting his energy into a project that feels more aligned with where he is right now.
The same report claims he has asked producer Jai Mehta to bring forward the shooting schedule of Pralay, a zombie-based film that places strong emphasis on emotion and human relationships. “Now that he has walked out of Don 3, Ranveer is now personally involved in aligning dates and schedules for Jai Mehta’s film to ensure the film moves quickly," the source said.
Tentatively titled Pralay, the Applause Entertainment-backed film is said to centre on a man’s fight to protect his family in the middle of overwhelming chaos.
It marks a shift from stylised gangster narratives to a story driven more by emotional stakes, something Ranveer Singh is reportedly eager to explore.
Meanwhile, the Don 3 team is now searching for a new actor to step into the iconic role. Kriti Sanon remains confirmed as the film’s leading lady, and the makers are still aiming to begin filming by late January 2026.
