Ranbir Kapoor is reportedly gearing up to dive back into the world of mythology as filming for Ramayana Part 2 begins in Mumbai. The actor, who essays the role of Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious epic, is expected to devote the next few months to completing significant portions of the sequel.
According to a report by Pinkvilla, Ranbir’s shooting calendar has seen a reshuffle. Owing to recent health concerns faced by filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the schedule of his other project, Love & War, has been pushed forward.
Production on that film is now expected to resume around May 2026, allowing Ranbir to refocus his attention on Ramayana Part 2 for the time being.
With the March schedule of Love & War postponed, Ranbir has reportedly prioritised the mythological saga. As per sources quoted by Pinkvilla, “RK aims to complete a significant portion of his shoot for the mythological epic between March and May."
The transformation into Lord Ram remains central to the actor’s preparation. “At the moment, Ranbir is sporting a clean-shaven look as part of his transformation into Lord Ram. The look aligns with the visual continuity planned for the film, which is expected to expand the scale and storytelling established in the first part," the source added.
The upcoming schedule is also set to bring together two pivotal characters of the epic. Veteran actor Sunny Deol, who plays Lord Hanuman, is expected to join the shoot shortly. As per the publication, Ranbir had already begun filming his portions in Mumbai, while Sunny Deol was likely to come on board around March 20.
Insiders revealed that this leg of the shoot holds particular importance, as it includes several key combination scenes between Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman — moments that are expected to be crucial in shaping the narrative arc of the sequel.
