Actor Ranbir Kapoor recently opened up about the growing curiosity around his lifestyle brand ARKS, finally addressing the questions fans have been asking since its launch last year.

Ever since the brand was unveiled, many on social media have speculated whether its name was inspired by his wife Alia Bhatt and their daughter Raha Kapoor.

In a candid new video shared online, Ranbir Kapoor set the record straight while offering a glimpse into the thinking and values behind the label.

The video, posted on the official ARKS Instagram and YouTube pages, features Ranbir Kapoor walking viewers through the brand’s manufacturing unit. During the tour, he revealed that the facility previously belonged to his brother-in-law, Bharat Sahni, adding a personal layer to the story behind the venture.

The actor also answered a series of questions, speaking openly about how ARKS came together and what it represents to him.

Talking about the brand’s name, Ranbir Kapoor explained that it wasn’t tied to a single idea or reference. “You know, it just had different meanings to it”. He went on to elaborate, “We started with because we just wanted to come out with the sneakers so it was a Ranbir Kapoor shoe. So there were many different, meanings to it like a Ranbir Kapoor studios Then I guess I came to a point where I said that it doesn't really need a meaning, but I think it just fit. When we heard the name ARKS, when we saw this logo, everything just came together,” added the 42-year-old. With that, he gently put to rest the assumptions linking the name to his family.

Ranbir Kapoor also reflected on how his own outlook has changed with time, and how that shift has influenced ARKS. “As I grow older, my desire for material things is growing lesser. You always need a t-shirt or a denim jacket because you can wear it at any time. That's where I come in with ARKS. But the plan is to really expand in different areas of lifestyle, which could be athleisure or underwear. I am also interested in the whole furniture market. So under the umbrella of ARKS, I think we're really trying to sell a sensibility, an aesthetic. A lifestyle for the consumer,” he said.

At present, ARKS offers a clean, understated menswear line featuring essentials such as cotton jersey t-shirts, hoodies, polo shirts, sweatshirts and linen shirts. Its campaign, showing Ranbir Kapoor lying on grass under a night sky, carried the caption, “Meet the founder. He's not on social media.”

The launch also received warm support from his family, with Alia Bhatt writing, “To new beginnings,” and Neetu Kapoor commenting, “Good luck.”

Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor continues to balance entrepreneurship with acting, as he prepares for upcoming films including Love And War and Animal Park.
