Neha Kakkar’s newest song Candy Shop, which released in collaboration with her brother Tony Kakkar, has ignited a heated debate across social media platforms. While the track quickly gained viral traction, a significant portion of online viewers criticised its quirky ‘lollipop’ dance moves and glossy production, claiming it borrowed too heavily from K-pop aesthetics.

Fans and netizens were swift to weigh in, with many dismissing the song’s lyrics and choreography as cringeworthy and drawing comparisons to Dhinchak Pooja’s music style.

Others argued that the vibrant visuals and bold styling of the Candy Shop music video clashed with Neha’s established musical identity, leaving long-time listeners puzzled by the creative direction.

As soon as the video of the song went viral people started commenting under the post. One wrote, “you just forgot yourself Neha what were you and what you are now don't mind but I love my old Neha.”

While another confusingly wrote, “Ye koi gaane ki lyrics h ???”

Many users compared her with Dhinchak Pooja and wrote, “Dhinchak Pooja ka song lag raha hai ye.”

"Kya matlab achha song nahi likh sakte to bachho ke liye poetry likh di,"  wrote one user.

One humoursly added, "Coca-Cola tak hi thk tha Bhai."

One advised Neha to make love or sad songs and wrote, "We didn't really love this version from Neha. Please guys instead of such songs you could work on love or sad songs or similar tracks that we're eagerly waiting for. @NehaKakkar We know you're a versatile singer but this type of song isn't really our preference!!!"

The backlash highlighted a split in audience expectations: while some social media users appreciated the energetic beats and experimental sound, many urged Neha to return to the musical style that earned her initial popularity.

Neha’s appearance sparks debate online

Neha Kakkar’s appearance in the song has also sparked conversation online. Many viewers have pointed out that her styling and visuals seem inspired by K-pop, but feel the similarity stops at the surface.

Netizens say that while the influence is clear, the overall execution appears awkward and lacks the charm and polish typically associated with the genre. Before the candy shop, Neha Kakkar and Tony Kakkar released Coca-Cola 2, a follow-up to their popular track Coca-Cola.

However, instead of recreating the original’s success, the sequel drew heavy backlash online. Many users criticised the song for its lyrics, music, and overall treatment, with netizens expressing disappointment and comparing it unfavourably to the original version.
