Bollywood actor Ileana D’Cruz has hit back at online trolls who body-shamed global music icon Rihanna for her appearance after childbirth, calling the criticism “bloody infuriating” and highlighting how unrealistic expectations about postpartum bodies harm women. The controversy erupted after recent photographs of Rihanna with her younger son, Riot, in Los Angeles went viral on social media, prompting a wave of comments questioning why she had not “bounced back” to her pre-pregnancy physique.

Rihanna, who shares three children with partner A$AP Rocky, has previously been vocal about embracing her post-pregnancy body and celebrating changes after childbirth. Despite this, several social media users — particularly on X (formerly Twitter) — shared side-by-side images of the singer from different stages of her life, using them to mock her body and even making derogatory comments about her age and looks.

Reacting to the backlash, Ileana took to her Instagram stories to defend Rihanna and condemn the critics. Responding to the post on Instagram, Ileana wrote, “This makes me so mad,” before addressing the wider issue of how women are judged after giving birth. In a detailed response, she added, “She’s a powerful woman! She made a whole baby and birthed that baby and is feeding and keeping that baby alive and healthy, yet the question is ‘why hasn’t she bounced back yet?’ Bloody infuriating unrealistic expectations.”

Ileana, who is herself a mother of two, added that such unrealistic expectations are harmful and diminish the real value of motherhood. Her strong stance resonated with many fans and fellow supporters online, who praised her for calling out shallow standards that women are often held to after childbirth.
