Filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan has finally confirmed that she is ready to return to directing movies and that her next film will be made only with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role — or not at all. In a candid update shared amidst her popular YouTube vlogs and media interactions, Farah emphasized her deep creative bond with Shah Rukh, saying she would rather wait than start her next project with any other actor.
Farah’s last directorial outing was the 2014 hit Happy New Year, which starred Shah Rukh Khan alongside Deepika Padukone, Sonu Sood and Boman Irani. The film was a commercial success and remains one of her most recognised works as a director. In her recent comments, Farah said that time felt right for a comeback — especially now that her children are older and she’s had a long creative break exploring vlogs, social media content and other endeavours.
It all started when Nakuul said that he really misses the genre of films that Farah used to make. Farah said, “Abhi banaungi main! Abhi bachche chaley jayenge na college fir banaungi! There is a whole petition on the internet called wapas aao Farah Khan (I will make a film soon! My kids are going to college so I will make after that. There is a whole petition for me to return to direction)! So I think it is time, I think end of this year I will start.”
When Nakuul asked whether YouTube will also produce her film, she replied, “If I do (direct her film), I will do it will Shah Rukh! Otherwise, I will wait and do YouTube.”

The announcement sparked excitement among fans online, with many hoping the planned project could be a sequel or spiritual successor to their previous hits. Industry observers note that while Shah Rukh is also committed to other films — including the upcoming King and potential future projects — his long history with Farah makes the news especially compelling for Bollywood audiences.
