The wave of excitement surrounding Aditya Dhar’s period spy thriller Dhurandhar shows no signs of settling, as the film continues to pull audiences into cinemas with impressive force.
What began as a promising release has now turned into something of a box-office phenomenon, with viewers responding enthusiastically to its scale, performances and emotional intensity.
As the second weekend began, the film once again surprised trade analysts by climbing sharply instead of slowing down, a sign of just how strongly it is connecting with the public.
On Saturday, the ninth day of its theatrical run, Dhurandhar delivered its biggest daily haul yet, collecting a remarkable Rs 53 crore. This surge represents a 61% jump from Friday’s Rs 32.50 crore, which itself had risen from Thursday’s Rs 27 crore.
Interestingly, the midweek numbers—Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday—all hovered around the Rs 27 crore mark, showing consistency even as the film moved further from its opening weekend.
Those weekday figures followed the only noticeable dip the film has experienced so far: the first Monday, when it dropped to Rs 23.35 crore. Even that, however, quickly became a footnote after the film bounced back with renewed strength.
Dhurandhar had already shown promise early on with Rs 43 crore on its first Sunday, Rs 32 crore on Saturday and Rs 28 crore on opening day, 5 December, according to Sacnilk.
Now, after nine days, the domestic total stands at a staggering Rs 292.75 crore. With that, Dhurandhar has crossed two major benchmarks. It has overtaken Rohit Shetty’s Simmba (Rs 240.30 crore), becoming Ranveer Singh’s highest domestic grosser in almost seven years. It has also surpassed Aditya Dhar’s own Uri: The Surgical Strike, which earned Rs 244.14 crore in 2019.

All eyes are now on the Rs 300 crore milestone, which the film is expected to cross on its second Sunday. And beyond that, there remains the distant yet tantalising possibility of matching Ranveer Singh’s career peak—Padmaavat, which earned Rs 400 crore domestically.
Meanwhile, competition has been minimal. Kapil Sharma’s Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 has made just Rs 4.35 crore in its first two days, dwarfed by the Rs 85.50 crore Dhurandhar has earned in the same period—despite being in its second weekend.
Co-produced by Aditya Dhar and Jio Studios, Dhurandhar is strengthened further by a powerhouse ensemble including Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi, and Sara Arjun—a team whose performances are clearly resonating with the audiences driving this extraordinary box-office run.
