Ranveer Singh’s action-packed spy thriller Dhurandhar shows no signs of slowing down, continuing to shatter box office records nearly six weeks after its release.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film has steadily built momentum through strong word of mouth and repeat viewings, and is now edging closer to the remarkable ₹1,300 crore mark at the global box office.
What has truly set Dhurandhar apart is its phenomenal performance overseas, especially in North America. The film has officially become the highest-grossing Indian film ever in the United States and Canada, collecting an estimated $21 million so far.
In doing so, it has surpassed a record that stood for nine years, previously held by S. S. Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Conclusion, which earned $20.7 million in the region back in 2017.
Back home, Dhurandhar has already rewritten the rulebook for Hindi cinema. The film has crossed ₹800 crore net in India, amounting to nearly ₹1,000 crore gross, making it the biggest Hindi box office success in the domestic market.
Its international run is even more impressive considering the film did not release, or faced restrictions, in parts of the Middle East — a region that often plays a key role in boosting overseas numbers. Even so, Dhurandhar has amassed around $32 million overseas.
In North America alone, the film has raced past the lifetime collections of several major Indian blockbusters, including Pathaan, Jawan, RRR, Dangal and Animal.
Beyond that, Dhurandhar has also claimed the title of the highest-grossing Indian film in Australia, underlining its broad global appeal. It currently sits at 13th place on the all-time overseas earnings list for Indian films.
The film’s success is powered not just by its scale, but also by a strong ensemble cast. Alongside Ranveer Singh, the film stars Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt and R. Madhavan in key roles, with Rakesh Bedi and Sara Arjun rounding out the cast.
Audiences and critics have praised the film’s gripping storyline, polished action and emotional undercurrents.
With a worldwide total of ₹1,296 crore, Dhurandhar now ranks as the fourth-highest-grossing Indian film ever, and its extraordinary run suggests there may still be more milestones to come.
