With just days to go before the March 19 release of Dhurandhar 2, excitement around the Ranveer Singh-led action drama has been steadily building. Over the weekend, strong buzz suggested that the makers were planning to unveil Dhurandhar: The Revenge’s trailer on March 3, aligning it with the festive occasion of Holi.
However, those expectations were quickly put to rest. On Monday, after speculation intensified online about the trailer drop, it became clear that Jio Studios had revised its plans. The much-anticipated promo would not be released on March 3 after all.
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the change of schedule was linked to the occurrence of a Lunar Eclipse on Tuesday. The publication cited a source close to the film who explained the reasoning behind the postponement.
“Reports of Dhurandhar: The Revenge’s trailer release on March 3 weren’t mere rumours. The makers genuinely planned to unveil it that day. But they were later informed that March 3 witnesses a Chandra Grahan (lunar eclipse), which is considered inauspicious for new beginnings. The inauspicious period is said to be from 9:39 am to 6:46 pm. Trailers are usually launched around noon, and this timing falls within the window. Hence, the team decided to postpone the trailer release.”
With most major film promotions traditionally scheduled around midday, the timing would have overlapped with what is considered an inauspicious window, prompting the makers to defer the launch.
Meanwhile, fresh reports have also stirred further conversation around the scale of the sequel. There have been claims that Dhurandhar 2 could have a runtime of 3 hours and 55 minutes — nearly touching the four-hour mark. If accurate, this would position the film among the longer mainstream Hindi releases in recent times.
Backed by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the sequel is expected to continue its high-octane spy-action narrative from where the first instalment concluded, raising the stakes even higher.

The box office scenario adds another layer of intrigue. Dhurandhar: The Revenge is slated to clash with Toxic, starring Yash, with both films hitting theatres on March 19, 2026. Reports suggest that Toxic may also feature a substantial runtime of approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar 2 will see Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal reprising their roles. While there have been reports hinting at a special appearance by Yami Gautam, there has been no official confirmation regarding her involvement so far.
