Armaan Malik slams Mumbai’s air quality

Singer Armaan Malik has voiced serious concerns over Mumbai’s rapidly deteriorating air quality, highlighting how poor AQI levels are affecting the health and daily lives of the city’s residents. Taking to social media, the singer shared a strongly worded message, urging civic authorities to move beyond temporary fixes and implement long-term, sustainable solutions.

Mumbai, often referred to as the “Maximum City,” has been grappling with declining air quality in recent weeks, with smog and dust becoming an increasingly common sight. Reflecting on the situation, Armaan shared his personal observations on X (formerly Twitter), stressing that the health impact is visible across age groups. He wrote, “Mumbai’s air feels heavier every day. I’ve seen more people fall sick this month than ever before, and it’s not the weather… it’s the air. The smog. The dust. The reality we’re breathing. From kids to elders, everyone is coughing or struggling. How are we expected to live, work, or feel safe like this? This deserves immediate attention from those in charge. We can’t air-purify our way out of a crisis. We need real solutions now.”

In a follow-up message, the singer directly appealed to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), calling for a concrete and inclusive action plan. He wrote, “@mybmc, this is a humble request—can you please look into this and figure out a strategic plan - coz this affects ALL OF US. Including the people (and families) working for your organisation.”

The singer’s post struck a chord with many residents who have been voicing similar concerns about respiratory illnesses, allergies, and general discomfort linked to pollution. Armaan went on to clarify that his criticism stems from a place of love and concern for the city he calls home. In another message, he added, “I love my city and my country deeply, and I want to continue living, working, and growing here because this place is home.”

However, he acknowledged that worsening living conditions are making it increasingly difficult for people to feel secure about their future in the city. Emphasising the need for systemic change, he wrote, “All I’m hoping for is that the authorities can take necessary steps to help make our living conditions healthier and more sustainable for everyone.”

Armaan further underlined how quality of life plays a crucial role in people’s sense of belonging. Concluding his post, he stated, “When basic necessities and overall quality of life improve, people feel rooted and confident about building their future right here. That’s all any of us really want.”

Armaan Malik’s comments add to the growing list of public figures raising alarms about environmental and health concerns in Indian metros, particularly Mumbai.

On the professional front, Armaan continues to remain busy with music projects. He recently lent his voice to Aakhri Salaam from De De Pyaar De 2 and Chal Musafir from Gustaakh Ishq.
