Music composer AR Rahman has been in the spotlight recently following a controversy and is now set to make his first appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show in its latest episode on Netflix.
Rahman will be seen on Kapil Sharma’s show alongside the star cast of Gandhi Talks in the upcoming episode. Netflix shared a promo clip on Instagram on Saturday, featuring AR Rahman with Vijay Sethupathi, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Siddharth Jadhav. In the promo for the episode airing today, Kapil is seen playfully pulling Rahman’s leg for his habit of responding in monosyllables.
Sharing the promo, Netflix captioned the post, “We went from shh-shh-shh to ha-ha-ha real quick. Watch the cast of Gandhi Talks on The Great Indian Kapil Show, streaming on 31st January, at 8 PM, only on Netflix.”
In the promo video, Kapil humorously asks the legendary composer to touch a CD of Lata Mangeshkar’s songs before making a request. He then says, “Promise me that for one-line questions I ask, you’ll answer in one line. Because when you ask Rahman sahab a four-line question, he replies with one word…Yeah, no, very good.”
Living up to Kapil’s observation, Rahman is seen simply smiling in response, rather than offering a verbal reply. The light-hearted banter continues as Kapil later asks Vijay Sethupathi how he knows Navjot Singh Sidhu despite not watching cricket, and questions Aditi Rao Hydari about why she got married.

For those unaware, AR Rahman recently courted controversy after referring to Chhaava as a “divisive” film during an interview with BBC Asian Network. He also spoke about a decline in work opportunities in Bollywood over the past eight years, stating, “It might be a communal thing also… but it is not in my face.” His remarks sparked significant backlash from fans across the globe.
Meanwhile, Gandhi Talks, directed by Kishor Pandurang Belekar, is a silent film featuring Vijay Sethupathi, Arvind Swamy, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Siddharth Jadhav. The film was released in theatres on January 30 and has received positive reviews from audiences.
