As one of his favourite films, Lamhe, approaches its 34th anniversary, veteran actor Anil Kapoor is taking a sentimental trip down memory lane.
In a note of appreciation, the iconic star acknowledged the achievement and thanked viewers for continuing to love the movie decades later.
Sharing his emotions online, he wrote, “34 years of Lamhe and the love still keeps pouring in!”
Anil described Lamhe as one of the most personally meaningful projects of his career. The outpouring of messages and tributes from fans, he said, has been overwhelming, and their affection reminds him of the film’s enduring magic.
“So many messages saying the film hasn’t aged… that means everything,” he shared, touched by how the movie still feels fresh to audiences.
The actor even revealed that praise came from an unexpected source — “Even Farah, usually my toughest critic, said some positive things on my work, was quite surprised!” he laughed.
Directed by the legendary Yash Chopra, Lamhe remains one of Hindi cinema’s boldest and most timeless love stories. The film, which starred Sridevi in a dual role that would define her career opposite Anil Kapoor's Virendra Pratap, defied expectations with its nuanced depiction of love, longing, and destiny.
Though ahead of its time when it first released in 1991, it has since become a cinematic classic — one that finds new admirers with every generation.

For Anil Kapoor, hearing people say Lamhe “hasn’t aged” is the ultimate compliment. “Stories that are pure, honest, and daring have a life beyond time,” he reflected. Indeed, Lamhe continues to shine brighter with age thanks to its soulful music, stunning Rajasthani settings, and stirring performances.
Anil Kapoor is both looking forward and celebrating the past. Suresh Triveni's upcoming film Subedaar, which features his signature charisma and energy, is already generating buzz.
At the moment, Lamhe is available on Netflix.
