After making a confident debut with Saiyaara last year, Ahaan Pandey is wasting no time in carving out his space in Hindi cinema.
The young actor, whose first performance was widely appreciated, is now preparing for a dramatic shift in genre with a large-scale action-romance directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and produced by Yash Raj Films.
Saiyaara, helmed by Mohit Suri, introduced Ahaan Pandey as a romantic lead with quiet intensity. The film struck a chord at the box office and left many wondering what he would choose next.
Rather than repeating himself, Ahaan Pandey appears to be embracing a new challenge — one that blends emotion with spectacle.
Explaining why he felt Ahaan Pandey was right for the part, as quoted by Free Press Journal, Ali Abbas Zafar said, “A true romantic hero is not defined by softness, he is defined by emotional intensity, and this translates beautifully into action. Romance gives a hero grace. Action gives him fire. When grace and fire meet, it is a potent combination for audiences to see an entirely new side to Ahaan that they haven’t seen. Ahaan has vulnerability in his eyes, and that’s what makes an action-romance powerful.”
For Ali Abbas Zafar, action only works when it is rooted in feeling. He elaborated, “Audiences don’t just want to see punches thrown on screen; they want to see and feel the purpose behind the punch. If the hero is fighting for what he believes in, what he loves and wants to protect, the action has far greater emotional stakes. People connect to it on a deeper emotional level.”

The director also believes that Ahaan Pandey’s biggest strength lies in his honesty on screen. There is a naturalness to him — an absence of showiness — that makes audiences invest in his characters. In Ali Abbas Zafar’s view, that sincerity could help Ahaan Pandey grow into one of those romantic heroes who leave a lasting emotional impression.
Actor Sharvari will star opposite Ahaan Pandey in the yet-untitled film. Shooting begins in Mumbai on 30 March 2026, followed by an extensive 60-day schedule in the United Kingdom.
