Following the massive box office success of Dhurandhar, which had a long runtime of over three hours, the upcoming war drama Border 2 is also reported to have a similarly extensive duration.
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the film starring Varun Dhawan, Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty is expected to exceed three hours in length.
The publication quoted a source saying, “Border 2 is around 200 minutes long. In other words, its duration is around 3 hours and 20 minutes. The exact runtime might change by a few minutes after the final touches are given. It will be locked in a few days and will be known once the film secures a censor certificate.”
The source further explained, “The makers feel that it was necessary for the film to have such a lengthy runtime as they want viewers to get a proper idea of the war being depicted in the film. Moreover, there are four major actors (Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty) and their tracks; justice needs to be done to them. This is the reason for its runtime.”
They also mentioned that the filmmakers have ensured that the film incorporates numerous dramatic, massy, and patriotic moments intended to keep audiences engaged, while also encouraging them to break into applause or whistles.
Directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, Border 2 features Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Medha Rana, Sonam Bajwa, Mona Singh, and Anya Singh in pivotal roles.
Border 2 serves as a spiritual successor to the 1997 blockbuster Border. The sequel was officially unveiled on June 13, 2024, coinciding with 27 years since the original’s release, and is being promoted as one of the most anticipated Hindi film releases of 2026.
The film is scheduled to release in theatres on January 23, 2026.
