The much-anticipated sequel to the 2007 hit Awarapan has officially gone on floors. Directed by Nitin Kakkar, Awarapan 2 pairs Emraan Hashmi once again in the intense world of love and redemption, this time opposite Disha Patani, who has been roped in as the female lead by producer Vishesh Bhatt. The film is targeting a summer 2026 release and aims to expand the franchise with a fresh narrative set largely outside India.

According to a report by Pinkvilla, the team has begun a marathon schedule in Bangkok this week. A source close to the production revealed, “Awarapan 2 is set to go on floors this week in Bangkok with the two leads Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani. The duo, along with the ensemble, will be stationed in Bangkok for a month. It’s a marathon schedule where over 50 percent of the film will be shot.”

The conflict of the story unfolds entirely in Bangkok, with the makers choosing to shoot extensively at real locations across the city. The production team is expected to capture the authentic urban landscape of Thailand, giving the film a distinct look and atmosphere.

Music has always been central to the Awarapan franchise, and Vishesh Bhatt is keen on delivering another powerful soundtrack. The source added, “Music is an important part of the Awarapan franchise, and the sequel won’t disappoint fans. After the 30-day schedule in Bangkok, the team will reunite for another leg in Mumbai. The idea is to wrap the film by January 2026.”

Given the lasting popularity of the first film’s songs, expectations are high for the sequel’s album, which will be curated to blend emotion with mass appeal.

The makers have already fixed April 3, 2026, as the release date, capitalizing on the holiday weekend. “The entire shoot has been designed to meet all deadlines of release. Emraan is thrilled to return as Shivam, while Disha is looking forward to stepping into this world of passion and heartbreak,” the source concluded.
