Former child actor Anushka Sen recenrtly spoke about her journey in television, cinema, recent appearance in Cannes, and how her idea of growth has evolved after spending most of her life in the public eye.

Recently announced as the brand ambassador for NowYouKnow, Anushka spoke with clarity and introspection about choosing authenticity over noise, whether it is while discovering a new city, selecting projects, or defining success on her own terms.

Speaking about why a people-led recommendation platform like NowYouKnow feels relevant to her life today, Anushka told Moneycontrol in an exclusive interview about her own travel experiences.

“Travelling constantly for shoots, I’ve often found myself in new cities with very little time and no desire to do the usual tourist checklist. I remember being in New York once with a few free hours and wanting nothing more than a quiet, authentic café, somewhere locals actually go. I caught myself thinking, I wish someone could guide me to where to find such places. That’s exactly where Now You Know feels so relevant. It’s built on real people sharing real experiences, not just star ratings, and that kind of honest recommendation can completely change how you experience a place.”

Fresh from attending the Cannes Film Festival, the actor shared that the most meaningful moments came away from the spotlight. “Cannes is undeniably magical: the red carpets, the fashion, the atmosphere. But the most grounding moment for me was sitting inside a screening, watching a film from a completely different culture, and still feeling every emotion so deeply. It reminded me that storytelling is truly universal. That connection, beyond glamour and spectacle, really stayed with me.”

Looking back at her long journey in television, which began at a very young age, Anushka acknowledged how formative those years were.

“I started working very early; it’s been 15 years now, and television taught me discipline the hard way. Long hours, daily shoots, and the expectation to be emotionally present even when you’re exhausted, there are no shortcuts. That phase of my life taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of consistency. It wasn’t easy, but it completely shaped my work ethic.”

When it comes to the evolving entertainment landscape, the actor expressed strong interest in digital storytelling. “I find the OTT space extremely exciting because it allows for layered characters and deeper, more honest storytelling. There’s a lot of creative freedom, and audiences today are open to experimentation. I would absolutely love to be part of a strong OTT series or show, especially something that challenges me as an actor and allows me to explore new dimensions of myself.”

Growing up under constant public scrutiny has also reshaped how she defines personal and professional progress. “When you grow up in the public eye, your definition of growth keeps evolving. Today, I measure growth through confidence and clarity, the confidence to trust myself and the clarity to say no when something doesn’t align with who I am. Projects do matter, but peace of mind and self-respect matter even more.”

Looking ahead, Anushka remains focused on staying honest to her path. “At this stage, my goal is to keep choosing work that genuinely excites and challenges me. I want to explore different formats, tell diverse stories, and continue evolving as an artist. I’m excited about what lies ahead, but more than anything, I want to stay honest with my journey and keep growing both professionally and personally.”
