Director Anil Sharma has finally broken his silence on the allegations made by Gadar 2actress Ameesha Patel regarding changes in the film’s climax. Ameesha had earlier claimed that the ending of the film was altered without her knowledge and that she was verbally informed that her character, Sakina, would accompany Tara Singh (played by Sunny Deol) to Pakistan in the movie’s finale. However, Anil has dismissed these claims, calling them baseless and asserting that Patel had signed the film only after reading the full script.
Ameesha Patel’s Allegations Against Anil Sharma
Ameesha Patel has been vocal about her disappointment with Anil Sharma, the director of Gadar 2. She expressed feeling “cheated” after he allegedly changed the film’s climax without informing her. In her claims, Patel insisted that she was initially told that her character would play a more prominent role in the movie’s conclusion by traveling to Pakistan alongside Tara Singh. However, she later found out that this storyline had been altered.
Addressing the issue, Anil Sharma firmly refuted these accusations. In a recent interview with YouTuber Vickey Lalwani, Sharma stated, “Everyone is free to share their opinion. I don’t throw stones in dirt. For me, she is still part of the family.”
Anil Sharma Calls Ameesha Patel a ‘Raees Ghar Ki Moody Ladki’
During the same interaction, Anil made a rather pointed remark about Ameesha's background, attributing her reaction to her privileged upbringing. He stated:
“Woh bade ghar ki beti hai, bade ghar ke baache moody hote hotey hain na, woh bhi moody hai.”
(“She is a rich kid. Mostly people from rich families are moody, and so is she.”)
Further elaborating on her background, Anil recalled how Am would arrive at rehearsals in a luxurious car and adorned with expensive jewelry. He said:
“She comes from a raees and khandani family. When she would come to our house for rehearsals, she would come wearing solitaires worth crores and in a Mercedes car worth Rs 1 crore. I decided to cast her because she was pretty, she wasn’t a very good performer, but she learned it and worked hard for it, and she worked for six months to become Sakina. And she had that attitude that mostly kids who come from rich families have, and that fitted my character.”
Director Questions the Logic of Sakina Going to Pakistan
One of the key points of contention between Ameesha and Anil is the alleged change in the film’s climax. Ameesha's claim that Sakina was initially supposed to accompany Tara Singh to Pakistan was dismissed by Anil, who found the very idea impractical. He responded with a rhetorical question:
“Is Pakistan a tourist center that Sunny Deol will take everyone there? Already his son was captured by Pakistani forces, and on top of that, he would also take his wife? Tara Singh pagal hai kya jo biwi ko bhi leke jaega?”
(“Is Tara Singh mad that he would take his wife to Pakistan?”)
“Ameesha’s character would have been a soft target, and then Sunny Deol’s character would have gotten trapped,” he added.
Did Patel Pressure Sharma to Change the Climax?
When asked whether Ameesha Patel had pressured him to alter the film’s climax and whether the production house was involved in any such discussions, Sharma chose to remain vague. He simply said:
“That all kept happening—I don’t want to get into that.”
