Salman Khan and Aamir Khan's 1994 cult classic Andaz Apna Apna has made a highly anticipated return to theatres, offering audiences a chance to relive the comedy that didn’t quite find success upon its original release.
Starring Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon, and Karisma Kapoor, the film now faces stiff competition from the likes of Jaat, Kesari Chapter 2, and Ground Zero, all of which are dividing audiences and limiting its screen time.
Despite the competitive environment, the re-release of Andaz Apna Apna has shown some positive momentum. On day 3 the film earned Rs 50 lakh, on day 2, the film registered a 20% increase in box office collections, earning Rs 30 lakh, up from Rs 25 lakh on the opening day. Which makes a total of Rs 1.15 crore.
The film was originally made on a budget of Rs 3 crore and had grossed Rs 5.15 crore net during its original run in 1994.
The current total box office collection for Andaz Apna Apna, including its re-release, stands at Rs 5.70 crore net (around Rs 6.72 crore gross). This means the film has already made a remarkable profit, with a 90% increase in earnings compared to its original run. With a promising trajectory, it looks likely that the re-release will soon achieve the milestone of surpassing its original earnings.
Even though the movie isn't doing as well as some of the recent blockbusters, its rise in box office receipts shows how Andaz Apna Apna has grown into a cult favourite over the years. It has now solidified its status as one of the most cherished comedy classics in Bollywood.
