American stylist Law Roach calls out luxury brands who refused to style Zendaya, says ‘I still have all the receipts. I still have everything’

Zendaya’s long time stylist Law Roach has kept a tab on the “big 5” fashion houses. And he isn’t letting them go anytime soon.

Law Roach, who has been the ‘Challengers’ star’s aeon long stylist, revealed in an appearance on ‘The Cutting Room Floor’ that Zendaya still hasn’t slipped into any of the “big 5” fashion houses’ looks.

“I would write [to] Saint Laurent, Chanel, Gucci, Valentino, and Dior… and they would all say no,” said the stylist on the prominent designer labels refusing to work with her, at the beginning of the star’s career.

“They would all say, ‘No, try again next year. She’s too green. She’s not on our calendar,’” recalled Roach. Also adding, “I still have all the receipts. I still have everything.”

Roach, who has been styling Zendaya ever since she was 14 years old, explained that by the time the Dune star landed her first American Vogue cover, she still had yet to wear the luxury brands’ designs. Zendaya only started to don ‘Valentino’ when she landed a contract with the Italian luxury fashion house in 2020.

The 45-year-old stylist also clarified that Zendaya has only adorned herself in some “big 5” clothing in editorial shoots and never on red carpets. “She still has never worn Dior on a carpet. She still has never worn Chanel on a carpet. She has still never worn Gucci on a carpet — any press, any appearance, never. Never.”

When Roach said to the fashion houses, ‘If you say no, it’ll be a no forever,’ that rang true for a long, long time.”

Law Roach also stated recently in a Vogue interview about having to scour through archives out of a “necessity” when he and Zendaya first began their collaboration, since there weren’t many designers willing to dress her. “We’ve been [pulling vintage] since Zendaya and I began working together, for 13 years now. At first, it came out of necessity because back when we started, nobody would lend her clothes,” he relayed to Vogue in February. “And I come from vintage—I had a vintage store in Chicago—so a lot of the things that she wore were things from my store or vintage pieces.”

The “fashion soulmates” recently shook the world with Zendaya’s 2024 Met Gala Look. The Disney Channel alum set the red carpet ablaze with her looks ‘twice’, last week.

Zendaya is currently starring as a lead in the Luca Guadagnino drama/romance feature, ‘Challengers’ alongside Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor.
