In a dramatic turn of events, Telugu superstar Allu Arjun was arrested and thereafter released on bail today in connection with the tragic stampede that occurred during the premiere of his film Pushpa 2: The Rule at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad on December 4. The stampede claimed the life of a 39-year-old woman and left her son critically injured. The family of the deceased filed an FIR, leading to Allu Arjun's arrest.
The arrest not only sent shockwaves through the film industry but has also stirred a significant public response. Fans have rallied behind Arjun, arguing that he should not bear the brunt of the tragedy alone. A key piece of evidence fueling this defense is a letter written by Sandhya Theatre management to the Hyderabad police, which has recently gone viral on social media.
The letter, addressed to the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, was sent by Sandhya Theatre ahead of the film's premiere. The theatre management requested additional security and arrangements, anticipating a massive crowd for the event on December 4. This highlights that the theatre had foreseen the potential for a large turnout and had sought police assistance to manage the crowd.
A user shared this letter on X (formerly Twitter), criticising the police for failing to provide adequate security measures. The post read, "As per reports, Sandhya Theatre had written a letter to police ACP to provide bandobust as they expected heavy rush on the release of the movie. Did @TelanganaCOPs provide security & take steps to avoid a stampede? Arrested an actor only to cover up their ineffective policing."

Fans and supporters of Allu Arjun argue that the actor should not be solely blamed for the incident, pointing out that the lack of proper security arrangements by the police also contributed to the chaos.
In a surprising development, the victim's husband reportedly considered withdrawing his complaint regarding the stampede. Meanwhile, Allu Arjun has been granted interim bail by Telangana High Court.
Despite the ongoing legal battle, Pushpa 2 continues to dominate the box office, having crossed the Rs 700 crore nett mark in India.
