Following the success of Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2898 AD, the anticipation for Prabhas' next project, Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, is at an all-time high. Although the director and film's team have yet to make any official announcements, rumours are swirling that Ma Dong-seok, a celebrated South Korean actor, might be cast as the antagonist in the upcoming cop film. This potential casting choice has generated significant excitement among fans and sparked numerous discussions on social media platforms.
Ma Dong-seok, also known as Don Lee, is a renowned South Korean actor who has gained widespread recognition for his versatile acting skills and commanding screen presence. Born Lee Dong-seok, he transitioned from supporting roles to become one of South Korea's most prominent actors. His potential involvement in Spirit has been met with enthusiasm, as fans eagerly anticipate a face-off between him and Prabhas.
Ma Dong-seok is known for his impressive filmography and strong screen presence. He first gained international fame with his role as Sang-hwa in the 2016 zombie thriller Train to Busan, where he portrayed a character who heroically sacrifices himself to save others. His performance in this film garnered him a global fan base and established him as a versatile actor capable of taking on diverse roles.
In 2021, Ma Dong-seok made his Hollywood debut as Gilgamesh in Marvel's Eternals. Utilising his boxing training, he brought a unique physicality to the role, aspiring to be the "first Korean superhero" and inspire younger generations. Gilgamesh, known as the "strongest Eternal," shared a deep connection with Thena, played by Angelina Jolie, further cementing Ma Dong-seok's reputation as a dynamic actor.
Recently, Ma Dong-seok starred in the Netflix film Badland Hunters and the theatrical release The Roundup: Punishment. He is also involved in producing upcoming projects such as Holy Night: Demon Hunters and The Villain 'L2'. If the rumours turn out to be true and Sandeep Reddy Vanga succeeds in casting him, Spirit will mark Ma Dong-seok's debut in Indian cinema.
The speculation about Ma Dong-seok joining Spirit has led to a flurry of posts on social media. According to Kolly Corner, Ma Dong-seok might play the antagonist in the film. The social media post stated, "South Korean actor #MaDongSeok playing antagonist role in #Prabhas - #SandeepReddyVanga's upcoming Pan Asia Film #Spirit. Team has already mentioned it will be released in Chinese and Korean language along with Indian languages."

Despite the excitement, the film's team remains tight-lipped about the casting rumours. When asked by HT, they stated, "There’s still a long way to go for 'Spirit' to go on floors, let alone for casting to be announced. Nothing is confirmed until the film’s team announces it." This cautious approach leaves fans eagerly waiting for official confirmation and further details about the film.
