Abhay Deol, the critically acclaimed actor known for his choice of unconventional roles, recently shared his personal views on sexuality and masculinity in an interview with Dirty Magazine, sparking considerable conversation. In his discourse, Abhay Deol expressed his rejection of Western labels concerning sexuality, preferring to view it as a spectrum rather than adhering to rigid definitions.

Abhay Deol's remarks were candid and introspective. He explained, "I refuse the Western way of identifying sexuality because it's so black and white. The Eastern approach is so different, it recognizes the whole of us."

Further elaborating on this perspective, Abhay Deol expressed a nuanced view of gender roles and identity, which reflects a broader understanding of human experiences and emotions. "Why should I define myself in Western terms? I have embraced all experiences in my life and I continue to do so. I don’t know how to label that, I don’t want to label that. All of us have a masculine and feminine within us, so, in my opinion, we are all they/them,” he shared.

On the topic of masculinity, Abhay Deol provided insights that defy conventional norms about gender roles. He stated, "I think masculinity, for me, is the ability to make people feel safe and included." He views the traditional roles of a protector and provider as individual or conditioned aspects of one's personality rather than inherent traits tied strictly to gender.

Abhay Deol’s upcoming film, "Bun Tikki," co-starring Zeenat Aman and Shabana Azmi, and directed by Faraz Arif Ansari, seems poised to further explore these themes.

The film, produced under Manish Malhotra's Stage 5 Productions and backed by Jio Studios, promises to be a significant addition to his body of work that often challenges societal norms.

This conversation about sexuality and masculinity is particularly relevant today, as discussions around these topics become increasingly mainstream. Deol's openness in discussing his personal journey and beliefs can serve as a catalyst for more nuanced discussions about identity and expression in society.
