Hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticised Rahul Gandhi for his ‘Shakti’ (power) remarks in Telangana, the Congress leader clarified that the power he mentioned referred to Modi himself.
“Modi ji doesn’t appreciate my words; he always tries to twist their meaning because he knows I speak the truth,” Gandhi wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Earlier, the Prime Minister had targeted Rahul Gandhi over his ‘Shakti’ remarks during a rally in Telangana.
“For me, every mother, daughter, and sister is a form of Shakti,” said PM Modi.
However, Rahul clarified that the power he was referring to is the facade of Narendra Modi. “It’s Modi ji’s facade, the power we’re fighting against,” said Gandhi.
He went on to allege, “This power has captured India’s institutions, including CBI, IT, ED, Election Commission, media, Indian industry, and the entire constitutional structure of India.”
Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of waiving off loans worth thousands of crores from Indian banks for the same power.
“This power controls India’s ports and airports, while Indian youth face challenges. The media suppresses the truth while glorifying this power,” remarked Gandhi.
Addressing a rally of the INDIA alliance at Mumbai's Shivaji Park after the conclusion of his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi won't be able to win the Lok Sabha elections without "EVMs, ED, CBI and Income Tax".
"Our fight against Modi is not on a personal level. Modi is a 'mask' who works for a 'Shakti' (power). He is a shallow man who doesn't have a 56-inch chest," Mr Gandhi said.
"There is a word 'Shakti' (might) in Hindi. We are fighting against a Shakti (might of the state). The question is, what is that Shakti and what does it entail for us? The soul and integrity of EVMs have been traded to the King (Modi). This is a fact. Not just EVMs but every autonomous institution of the country, be it the ED, CBI or Income Tax department, have traded their spines to the Centre," Rahul Gandhi said in an address in Mumbai.
