Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday referred to Chirag Paswan as his 'little brother' and said he is glad that the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader has stepped into his father's shoes.
"Glad my little brother Chirag has stepped into the shoes of my friend late Ram Vilas Paswan," PM Modi said during a rally in Bihar's Jamui.
The LJP (Ram Vilas) president thanked the Prime Minister for choosing the seat (Jamui) to kick off NDA's Lok Sabha poll campaign in Bihar as it is being fought by his party. LJP is contesting 5 of the 40 Bihar constituencies - Vaishali, Hajipur, Samastipur, Khagaria and Jamui.

Exuding confidence in NDA winning 400+ seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha election, PM Modi said that the people of Bihar have resolved to help NDA win all 40 Lok Sabha seats. His remarks come hours after 22 prominent leaders of LJP quit the Chirag-led party and offered support to the Bihar grand alliance, which is part of INDIA bloc.
"It is a matter of pride for Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and the people of Jamui that the Prime Minister has agreed to launch his campaign in Bihar from the constituency. We are committed to helping him achieve the target of 400-plus seats for the NDA, including all the 40 in Bihar," said Chirag Paswan echoing PM Modi's statement.

Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, who heads the JD(U) and has stayed indoors for some time, was out in the scorching heat to share the stage with PM Modi, who trailblazed the NDA's campaign for the Lok Sabha polls in the state. Bihar will vote in all seven phases in the Lok Sabha election, beginning April 19. Jamui is among the four Lok Sabha seats in Bihar which will go to polls in the first phase.
During the rally, the Prime Minister also accused the Congress and its ally Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) of bringing disrepute to the nation.
