NIT Rourkela student lands Rs 1.2 crore placement offer amid record season

A student from the National Institute of Technology Rourkela (NIT Rourkela) has secured a remarkable placement offer worth Rs 1.2 crore per annum, one of the highest packages offered during the 2023-24 placement season. The institute saw a successful placement drive with over 1,300 job offers extended to students across various programs.

This season's placement drive witnessed participation from 342 companies, nearly 40% of which were first-time recruiters at the campus.

Three students received offers ranging between Rs 80 lakh per annum and Rs 1.2 crore per annum, with an average CTC of Rs 12.89 lakh per annum across all programs. Additionally, 53 students secured annual packages exceeding Rs 30 lakh per annum. The Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering department recorded the highest average CTC at Rs 19.08 lakh per annum, followed by the Computer Science and Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering departments with average CTCs of Rs 18.31 lakh per annum and Rs 18 lakh per annum, respectively.

Top recruiters for the 2023-24 season included Jindal South West (JSW) with 55 offers, Sri Chaitanya Educational Institutions with 38 offers, Vedanta with 36 offers, and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) with 35 offers. Other notable recruiters were Qualcomm, ZS Associates, Aditya Birla Group (ABG), and Larsen & Toubro (L&T).

NIT Rourkela has earned 16th position in NIRF Ranking 2023 (Engineering Category), Overall 37th position, 29th position under Research and 8th position in Architecture and Planning category.
