The first list of shortlisted students for Delhi Nursery, KG and Class 1 admissions for the 2026–27 academic session has been released. This marks the first key step in the city’s nursery admission process, which sees strong competition every year.
The list covers admissions to more than 1,700 private unaided schools across Delhi and includes nearly 1.25 lakh applicants. It has been released by the Directorate of Education (DoE) under its points-based admission system, which is meant to ensure transparency and fairness.
Parents can now check their child’s admission status online, view the points awarded under different criteria and raise objections if required. The second list is expected in early February, while the entire admission process will be completed by March.
How to check the first admission list
Parents can check the first list of shortlisted candidates by visiting the official Delhi Directorate of Education website at edudel.nic.in.
Parents are also advised to check the individual school websites, as many schools publish the same list on their own portals.
Objections window and next steps
If parents find any errors or discrepancies in the points awarded or selection status, they can raise objections between January 24 and February 3, 2026.
The second list of shortlisted students will be published on February 9, 2026. The admission process will officially conclude on March 19, 2026.
To ensure fairness, the Directorate of Education has set up district-level monitoring cells to supervise the process. In cases where two or more applicants have the same points, the selection will be done through a draw of lots. These draws will be conducted in the presence of parents and recorded on video.
