The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 10 English board examination concluded at 1:30 pm today, with lakhs of students appearing at centres across India and abroad. The exam began at 10:30 am and was conducted under the board’s prescribed guidelines.

Students were asked to report early at their respective centres for verification and entry procedures. Admit cards were checked at the gates, and seating arrangements were made as per CBSE norms. The examination was conducted smoothly across centres.

First Student Reactions

As students stepped out of examination halls, many described the paper as balanced and in line with the prescribed syllabus. Several said the questions were largely expected and based on classroom preparation and sample paper practice.

Some students shared that the reading section was manageable, while the writing section required careful time management. A few felt that certain analytical questions needed detailed answers, but overall, most were able to complete the paper within the allotted time.

Teachers present at various centres also indicated that the paper appeared to be of an easy to moderate level, similar to previous years.

Question Paper Pattern

The Class 10 English theory paper carried 80 marks. The remaining 20 marks are allotted for internal assessment conducted by schools.

The question paper was based on the latest CBSE syllabus and exam pattern. It included sections on:

  • Reading comprehension
  • Writing skills
  • Grammar
  • Literature from prescribed NCERT textbooks

In line with recent reforms, the paper included competency based and case based questions. Students were required to demonstrate understanding, interpretation and clear expression rather than memorised responses.

Like previous years, questions were largely within the NCERT syllabus. Students who prepared consistently and practised sample papers said they found the structure familiar.
