Bihar Board Exams 2026

The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has announced the schedule for the upcoming Bihar Board Matric (Class 10) and Intermediate (Class 12) annual examinations for 2026. A record number of over 28 lakh students across the state are set to appear, with a notable trend of higher female participation continuing this year.

The BSEB Intermediate (Class 12) examinations will be conducted in a single shift from February 2 to February 13, 2026. The Matriculation (Class 10) exams will follow, held in two shifts daily from February 17 to February 25, 2026.

The board has registered a massive influx of candidates:

Class 10: 15,12,963 students

Class 12: 13,17,846 students

Female Students Lead in Registration Numbers

A significant highlight of the 2026 exam registration data is the consistent increase in female candidates, outnumbering males in both classes.

In Class 10: 7,85,829 girls are registered against 7,27,124 boys. Ten transgender students will also appear for the exam.

In Class 12: 6,75,845 girls are registered compared to 6,42,001 boys.

BSEB Chairman, Shri Anand Kishore, attributed this positive shift to sustained government efforts and changing social attitudes. "The Bihar government's focus on promoting girls' education is showing clear results. Girls are now more vocal and eager about their academic future, and this year's enrollment numbers are a testament to that progress," he stated.

In Patna district alone, a total of 71,009 candidates will sit for the Class 10 exams, while 73,963 will appear for Class 12. The district administration will establish 70 examination centers for Matric and 84 centers for Intermediate exams.

Across Bihar, the board will set up 1,699 examination centers for Class 10 and 1,762 centers for Class 12 to accommodate all candidates.
