A Muslim man and his 22-year-old Hindu girlfriend were allegedly murdered and buried by her brothers in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad is what is being seen as a case of honour killing.
The 27-year-old man, identified as Armaan, was as employed in Saudi Arabia. He had been residing in Moradabad for a few months. During this period, he met Kajal, and they began a romantic relationship. Kajal’s brothers disapproved of their interfaith relationship and demanded that she end it, according to a report by NDTV.
Around three days ago, the couple went missing. Arman's father, Haneef, filed a missing persons complaint. During their investigation, police found Kajal was also missing. Her brothers were questioned, and they confessed to killing the couple. The accused also guided the cops to the spot where they had buried the bodies.
The bodies were dug out last evening. The accused told the cops that they tied up Arman's and Kajal's hands and legs before hacking them to death, NDTV reported.
“During the investigation, it was uncovered that the woman’s brothers had murdered both individuals. Upon questioning the brothers, the bodies of the victims were recovered based on their information. A shovel was used in the crime," Satpal Antil, Senior Superintendent of Police, said.
Based on a complaint received from the deceased man’s family, a case has been registered at Pakwara Police Station under crime number 18/26, sections 103 (1) and 238 of the BNS.
The case has been filed against three brothers of the woman. Two of them have been taken into custody.
