Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditynath took a ride on one of the world’s fastest and most advanced train systems, which uses magnetic levitation instead of wheels, in Japan's Yamanashi on Thursday.
Adityanath shared a post on X, sharing details about his ride. "You can see that I was travelling.. Japan’s advanced SCMAGLEV train in Yamanashi, a next-generation high-speed system that reaches speeds of up to 500 km/h and represents the future of clean, efficient and precision mobility."

Describing the ride as 'smooth' and 'remarkably stable' even at extraordinary speed, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said the train system reflected Japan’s commitment to innovation and long-term infrastructure excellence. "When technology moves at this speed, the future feels closer than ever," Adityanath wrote on X.
SCMAGLEV or Superconducting Magnetic Levitation train is being developed by the Central Japan Railway Company. It’s a high-speed train technology developed in Japan that uses powerful superconducting magnets to levitate (float) above the track instead of running on wheels.
The magnetic force lifts the train about 10cm off the track. With no physical contact, there’s almost no friction, allowing extremely high speeds.
Adityanath, who is in Japan, attended the Yamanashi Prefecture and held deliberations with Governor Kotaro Nagasaki to strengthen Uttar Pradesh–Yamanashi cooperation and advance growing strategic partnership. An MoU was also signed to deepen collaboration in industry, tourism and vocational education, with a strong focus on green Hydrogen, clean energy innovation and technology exchange.

"I express my gratitude to the Governor of Yamanashi Prefecture and all stakeholders for their proactive role in deepening this collaboration rooted in shared economic vision and civilizational connect," Adityanath wrote on X.
The CM also welcomed the Governor to lead a delegation of 200 CEOs to Uttar Pradesh in August, which will further accelerate industrial partnerships and investment momentum. "UP offers scale, skill and speed, backed by strong infrastructure and seamless facilitation through Invest UP’s dedicated Japan Desk and the proposed Japan Industrial Township in YEIDA," he said.
