Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced a significant improvement in the state's air connectivity after discussions with IndiGo's leadership in New Delhi.

The airline has committed to several new and restructured flight services to enhance access to key locations across Assam.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), CM Biswa outlined the upcoming changes. "During my recent meeting with the IndiGo leadership in New Delhi, I urged them to enhance air connectivity to other key locations across Assam- particularly Silchar, Dibrugarh, and North Lakhimpur," he said.

"I'm pleased to share that IndiGo has responded positively and shared the following upcoming deployments: The Delhi–Dibrugarh flight will now include a stopover at Guwahati, providing morning connectivity between the two capitals of Assam. IndiGo will restructure its schedule to introduce a morning Guwahati–Silchar flight, addressing long-standing passenger demand. IndiGo will soon evaluate scheduled operations from Lilabari Airport in North Lakhimpur."

The upcoming changes are:

- The Delhi–Dibrugarh flight will now include a stopover in Guwahati, facilitating morning connectivity between Assam's two capitals.

- IndiGo will restructure its schedule to introduce a morning Guwahati–Silchar flight, which addresses long-standing passenger demand.

- A new Guwahati–Navi Mumbai service is set to begin during the Winter 2025–26 schedule.

- The airline will assess scheduled operations from Lilabari Airport in North Lakhimpur.

- Additionally, a direct Delhi–Jorhat flight is expected to start in mid-September 2025, further enhancing the state's connectivity.

These developments are part of a broader initiative to improve air travel infrastructure in Assam, aiming to boost economic growth and accessibility in the region.

"I appreciate IndiGo’s prompt response and look forward to their continued efforts in delivering quality service to the people of our state," he said.
