Dense fog hit the flight operations across major cities in North India on Friday. While there has  been some normalisation, IndiGo witnessed cancellation of around 100 flights due adverse weather conditions. The airline confirmed the disruptions on its website, noting that poor visibility in several regions, especially north India, has impacted flight operations.

At Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, several flights were delayed as dense fog reduced visibility during the early hours. IndiGo issued an advisory urging passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport and to stay in touch with the airline for real-time updates.

Flight cancellations were reported on multiple routes, including high-traffic sectors such as Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Nagpur and Delhi-Hyderabad, among others.

In a post on X, IndiGo said early morning fog in Delhi and other parts of northern India had affected visibility and disrupted schedules. The airline described fog-related disruptions as a seasonal challenge and said flight movements were being managed carefully to ensure safe and orderly operations.

The carrier added that its teams are continuously monitoring weather conditions and coordinating closely with air traffic authorities. Operational adjustments are being made wherever feasible to reduce inconvenience and ensure customer support remains accessible across key touchpoints.

IndiGo also highlighted that areas such as Delhi NCR, Amritsar, Jabalpur and Jalandhar remain under the influence of cold weather and lingering fog. Fluctuating visibility has led to slower-than-usual operations, with ground teams prioritising safety and compliance with visibility norms.

Coimbatore Airport reported the cancellation of one flight on Friday, while no IndiGo cancellations were recorded at Goa International Airport.

Meanwhile, Patna Airport issued an advisory on X, asking passengers to stay in contact with their airlines, monitor official channels for updates and allow extra travel time due to fog-related disruptions. The airport added that passenger facilitation teams are available on the ground.

The latest weather-related disruptions come at a time when IndiGo is working to stabilise operations following recent large-scale disruptions caused by crew shortages and technical issues. Dense fog and poor weather conditions have now added to the operational challenges, leading to multiple flight cancellations across the network.
