In a new development in the November 10 Delhi car blast case, investigators have detained a man named Faheem, the brother-in-law of accused bomber Dr Umar Un Nabi, from an undisclosed location.

According to a report by News18, Faheem was taken into custody after authorities traced a red Ford EcoSport (registration number DL 10 CK 0458) to Kandawali village in Faridabad.

The car, suspected to be connected to Umar, was allegedly parked there by Faheem, who was accompanied by an unidentified woman at the time. Officials said he is being questioned but has not been formally arrested yet.

The red EcoSport was seized by the Faridabad Police on Wednesday. Investigators believe it could provide key clues in the case, as the car is registered in Umar’s name.

Before the blast near Red Fort, Umar is believed to have stayed at a mosque on Asaf Ali Road, close to Ramlila Maidan. CCTV footage suggests that he later parked another vehicle at the Sunehri Masjid parking lot around 3.19 pm, hours before the explosion. Agencies are now analysing his phone data and signal history to track his final movements.

Following the explosion, Delhi Police issued an alert for the red Ford EcoSport and shared its details with police in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. All checkpoints and police posts in the national capital were directed to be on alert after it was found that the suspects were using more than one vehicle, including the Hyundai i20 that exploded.

Meanwhile, DNA samples taken from Umar’s mother and brother have confirmed that the remains found inside the i20 car belong to Umar himself. The samples were tested at the AIIMS forensic laboratory.

Investigators also confirmed that Umar had driven the i20 on the Mumbai Expressway and the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway before entering Delhi.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has formed a special team, supervised by senior officers, to investigate the case. The Centre has officially termed the incident a “terrorist attack”.
