Ayodhya is poised for a momentous spiritual event as the consecration (Pran Pratishtha) of the Ram Darbar and 14 newly constructed temples within the Ram Mandir complex is scheduled to take place on June 5, 2025. This landmark ceremony marks the culmination of the temple’s construction and coincides with the auspicious festival of Ganga Dussehra.

Earlier, Nripendra Mishra, chairman of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Construction Committee, had said that no VIPs from either the central or state governments would be invited, with the emphasis squarely on the religious and spiritual nature of the event. Spiritual leaders from diverse traditions were expected to lead the proceedings, keeping the focus on devotion rather than political presence.

However, reports indicate that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath may attend the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of the Ram Darbar. There's no official confirmation on this yet, though.

The three-day religious observance will commence on June 3, culminating in the main consecration on June 5. Preparatory rituals, including the installation of a Shiva Lingam in the Shiv temple within the complex, are set to begin on May 30.

Speaking to PTI, Mishra has confirmed that the Pran Pratishtha of the Ram Darbar would be conducted between June 3 and 5. He explained that the temple’s construction unfolded in three phases. The first phase, completed in early 2024, saw the installation of the idol of Ram Lalla and the initial Pran Pratishtha.

The second phase includes the sanctum (Garbhagriha) on the first floor, where the Ram Darbar - comprising idols of Lord Ram, Sita, his brothers and Hanuman - will be installed. The final phase will involve additional infrastructural and landscaping work across the temple precincts.

The rituals will be performed by 101 Vedic scholars from Kashi and Ayodhya and will feature traditional practices such as the worship of the Yagyashala, recitations from the Valmiki Ramayana and the chanting of Vedic mantras.

The Ram Darbar will be housed on the temple’s first floor, featuring idols of Lord Ram, Sita, Lakshman, Bharat, Shatrughna and Hanuman. In addition to this central installation, 14 other temples within the complex will also be consecrated. These include shrines dedicated to deities such as Lord Shiva, Surya, Ganapati, Hanuman, Goddess Bhagwati and Goddess Annapurna.

Security arrangements are being significantly stepped up. CRPF Director General Kuldeep Singh recently visited Ayodhya to assess preparedness and ensure the safety of the anticipated influx of devotees, according to a report by Navbharat Times.

Following the consecration, the newly built sections of the temple are expected to be opened to the public within a week. Owing to space limitations, daily visits to the Ram Darbar will be regulated, with entry restricted to 750–1,000 visitors per day. Passes will be made available online.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the Ram Mandir on January 22, 2024. The temple’s ground floor presently houses the idol of Ram Lalla, the child form of Lord Ram and the shrine’s presiding deity.
