Ayodhya is poised for a significant spiritual event as the consecration (Pran Pratishtha) of the Ram Darbar and 14 newly constructed temples within the Ram Mandir complex is scheduled for June 5, 2025. This ceremony marks the culmination of the temple's construction, coinciding with the auspicious festival of Ganga Dussehra.
The three-day religious observance will commence on June 3, leading up to the main consecration on June 5. Preparatory rituals, including the installation of a Shiva Lingam in the Shiv temple within the complex, are set to begin on May 30.
The 'Pran Pratishtha' of the Ram Darbar at the Ram temple in Ayodhya will be performed between June 3 and 5, Nripendra Mishra, chairman of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Construction Committee, told PTI.
Explaining the temple's development, Mishra said construction was carried out in three phases. The first phase involved completing the ground floor and installing Ram Lalla, which was done in early 2024 along with the initial Pran Pratishtha.
The second phase, now nearly complete, includes the first-floor sanctum (Garbhagriha) where the Ram Darbar - comprising Lord Ram, Sita, his brothers and Hanuman - will now be placed, he added.
The ceremonies will be conducted by 101 Vedic scholars from Kashi and Ayodhya, featuring traditional rituals such as the worship of the Yagyashala, recitations from the Valmiki Ramayana and chanting of Vedic mantras.
The Ram Darbar, to be established on the temple's first floor, will house the idols of Lord Ram, Sita, Lakshman, Bharat, Shatrughna and Hanuman. In addition to the Ram Darbar, 14 other temples within the complex will be consecrated. These include shrines dedicated to deities such as Lord Shiva, Surya, Ganapati, Hanuman, Goddess Bhagwati and Goddess Annapurna.
Notably, Mishra told PTI that the trust has decided that no VIPs from the central or state governments will be invited to the ceremony. The focus remains on the religious significance of the event, with spiritual leaders from various traditions expected to attend.
Security measures are being intensified in preparation for the event. CRPF Director General Kuldeep Singh had recently visited Ayodhya to assess security arrangements, ensuring the safety of the large number of devotees anticipated to attend the ceremony, NBT reported.
Following the consecration, the newly constructed sections of the temple are expected to open to the public within a week. Due to space constraints, daily visitor numbers to the Ram Darbar will be limited to 750–1,000 individuals, with passes available online .
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the Ram Mandir on 22 January 2024. The temple's ground floor houses the idol of Ram Lalla, the child form of Lord Ram and the presiding deity of the shrine.
