The Uttar Pradesh government has introduced a first-of-its-kind initiative under its “Ek Diya Ram Ke Naam” campaign to attract global audience in the Ayodhya Deepostav 2025. Under this, devotees from around the world can participate virtually in the upcoming celebrations through three “digital devotional packages”.
“Deepotsav has become a global celebration of faith. Through these online packages, the event would become more inclusive. This initiative blends technology with tradition, allowing devotees everywhere to feel spiritually connected to Ayodhya and offer prayers to Lord Ram,” Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh said.
Alongside the digital packages, the UP Tourism Department is offering a one-day tour package for those who want to visit Ayodhya in person and witness the festivities.
Three devotional packages for all
The digital packages are named Ram Jyoti, Sita Jyoti, and Lakshman Jyoti, and are organised by the Shri Ayodhya Ji Tirth Vikas Parishad. These will be available through the Divya Ayodhya app, which serves as a one-stop platform for temple information, devotional services, travel bookings, and cultural guides.
Ram Jyoti Package (Rs 2,100): This premium package includes a specially curated set of devotional items such as roli, holy water from the Saryu River, soil from Ayodhya, ramdana, mishri, raksha sutra, Hanuman Garhi laddoos, and mini Padukas.
These items will be dispatched directly to registered devotees across India and abroad, along with access to a virtual tour.
Sita Jyoti Package (Rs 1,100) and Lakshman Jyoti Package (Rs 501): These packages provide devotional items tailored to different budgets, making participation possible for a wider audience.
All package holders will have the opportunity to light a virtual diya on the day of Deepotsav, which will be celebrated this year on October 19. Devotional items, including soil from Ayodhya and water from the Saryu River, will be delivered to participants’ addresses according to the package they select.
According to the officials, the online packages are intended to make the festival accessible to everyone, particularly those unable to travel. “It is an attempt to combine technology with tradition to extend the reach of cultural and religious events,” a government representative was quoted by The Indian Express as saying.
Record-breaking celebrations planned
This year, the UP government plans to light 26 lakh diyas along the ghats of the Saryu River, aiming to set a new record. The celebrations will also include a collective Maha Aarti, in which 2,100 devotees will participate on the eve of Diwali.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is expected to inaugurate the event by lighting the first diya. Following this, volunteers across various ghats will light diyas simultaneously, creating a spectacular display.
