Tata Motors will launch the iconic Sierra in India on November 25. Serving as a key part of the homegrown automaker's SUV portfolio, the new Sierra is expected to sit below the Harrier.
For reference, Tata currently sells internal combustion engine (ICE) SUVs like the Punch, Nexon, Curvv, Harrier and Safari. Its electric SUV line-up includes the Punch.ev, Nexon.ev, Curvv.ev and Harrier.ev.
While the new Tata Sierra will initially be introduced in ICE avatar, there will be an electric vehicle (EV) version at a later date.
Details regarding the specifications of the new Sierra are not clear yet. There has been no official communication from Tata on the same.
However, industry experts expect the SUV to get both petrol and diesel engines. Some even expect the 2025 Sierra to debut Tata's new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, which the carmaker revealed at the Auto Expo 2023.
On design and features, the new Sierra draws on its heritage nameplate while adopting modern cues. The SUV has been spotted with a wrap-around rear glass section, LED lightbars, flush-fitting door-handles, large alloy wheels and a three-screen cabin layout (driver display, central infotainment, passenger screen) in higher trims.
On the safety and convenience front, a Level 2 ADAS suite, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and advanced connectivity features are expected.
We expect the new Tata Sierra price in India to be in the range of Rs 13.50 lakh to Rs 24 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival the likes of the Mahindra Thar Roxx and the MG Hector.
