Tata Motors is gearing up to expand its SUV portfolio with the launch of an all-new model. This new SUV will reportedly be the iconic Tata Sierra, which was showcased earlier this year at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025.
The Tata Sierra launch will take place either towards the end of November 2025 or in early December 2025. The SUV will first enter the market in an internal combustion engine (ICE) avatar, followed by an electric vehicle (EV) version.
In terms of design, the new Tata Sierra draws inspiration from the old model of the 1990s, but has been completely re-engineered. The SUV shown at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 carried a tall, upright silhouette, a full-width LED light bar, square wheel arches, and a redesigned glasshouse reminiscent of the classic Sierra's distinctive rear profile. The model now adopts a five-door layout, providing easier access and a more practical cabin.
The SUV is based on Tata's flexible new architecture, allowing greater interior space and refinement. Premium materials, enhanced sound insulation, and a simplified dashboard design are expected to feature in the production model.
Powertrain options are likely to include Tata's new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, paired with either a six-speed manual or an automatic gearbox. The familiar 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine (170PS and 350Nm) from the Harrier and Safari line-up could also be part of the range, tuned for improved drivability. A 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine may serve as the entry-level option. All versions are expected to be front-wheel-drive, with no four-wheel-drive variant planned initially.
The Tata Sierra price is expected to be between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 19 lakh (ex-showroom). It will take on the likes of the Mahindra Thar Roxx, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Maruti Suzuki Victoris.
