Swaraj Tractors, part of the Mahindra Group, has rolled out 25th lakh tractor from its Mohali plant in Punjab. The milestone comes just three years after it crossed the 20-lakh mark in 2022.
The brand's journey began in 1974 with the Swaraj 724, India's first indigenously designed tractor in the 20–25hp category. From producing the first 5 lakh tractors by 2002, Swaraj has now grown five times in 23 years.
Year | Milestone |
1974 | Launch of Swaraj 724, India's first indigenously designed tractor |
2002 | 5 lakh production milestone |
2022 | 20 lakh production milestone |
2025 | 25 lakh production milestone |
The company said that the 25-lakh production milestone highlights the deep trust farmers continue to place in the brand. "Swaraj's growth reflects the confidence that generations of farmers have had in us," said Veejay Nakra, President, Farm Equipment Business, Mahindra & Mahindra.
Swaraj Division CEO Gaganjot Singh said that for many farmers, a tractor is more than a machine. "It is a partner in their progress, built to meet their needs at a low cost of ownership," he said.
Over five decades, Swaraj has become part of farming families across rural India, often passed down from one generation to the next. With the 25-lakh mark achieved, the company is looking to strengthen its role in India's mechanisation drive and expand solutions for horticulture and emerging segments.
