Maruti Suzuki India Ltd announced on October 17 that its Manesar plant has achieved the milestone of producing 1 crore vehicles, making it the fastest Suzuki plant globally to do so in just 18 years.
The landmark vehicle, a Brezza SUV, rolled out on October 6, 2024. Spread across 600 acres, the Manesar facility produces models like the Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, and Ciaz, catering to both domestic and export markets. The achievement highlights Maruti’s contribution to the ‘Make in India’ initiative and job creation in the auto sector.
Maruti Suzuki's annual production capacity is approximately 23.5 lakh units. The company has manufactured over 3.11 crore vehicles since its inception.
In April this year, the company had expanded the manufacturing capability at its Manesar plant in Haryana by 1 lakh units per year.
"We aim to nearly double our capacity to 4 million vehicles per annum over the next 7-8 years, and this capacity addition of 100,000 vehicles per year is a step towards this goal. It will help us serve our customers faster and enhance our overall capability to manufacture up to 23.5 lakh units per annum, Hisashi Takeuchi, the MD and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India had said in the April 9 press release.
At 12:34 pm on October 17, Maruti Suzuki's shares on BSE were trading 2% lower at Rs 12,117.5 apiece.
