From Creta to Seltos, Grand Vitara, Hyryder, Thar Roxx & others: Cheaper by up to 1.33 lakh in GST 2.0

GST 2.0 has brought price cuts across India's mid-size SUVs, with reductions of up to Rs 1,33,000.

September 30, 2025 / 19:19 IST
The Mahindra Thar Roxx now starts at only Rs 12,25,000 (ex-showroom).

The rollout of GST 2.0 has reduced the ex-showroom prices of several popular mid-size SUVs in India. With revised tax slabs and no compensation cess, models such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Mahindra Thar Roxx, Tata Curvv, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, and MG Astor are now more affordable, with price cuts ranging from Rs 54,000 to Rs 1,33,000.

Earlier, the mid-size SUVs attracted 28% GST along with a compensation cess from 15% to 22%, taking the total tax incidence to almost 50%. In GST 2.0, the structure has been rationalised. They are now in the 40% GST bracket with no compensation cess, as it has been completely removed for automobiles.

The lower taxation has translated into price cuts on all automobiles, including mid-size SUVs. The carmakers have passed on the benefits to buyers as well.
