  • Skoda and VW offer up to Rs 3 lakh year-end benefits on Kushaq and Taigun SUVs
  • Both SUVs have secured 5-star safety rating
  • Kushaq facelift launching in January with added features

Skoda and Volkswagen are providing year-end benefits to the tune of Rs 3 lakh on their respective mid-size SUVs, the Kushaq and the Taigun. These models rival the likes of the Tata Sierra, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.

The offers on the Skoda Kushaq and the Volkswagen Taigun are in the form of customer discounts, exchange bonuses, loyalty benefits and corporate schemes. However, they vary depending on the variant of the two models.

While the Kushaq is priced between Rs 10.61 lakh and Rs 18.43 lakh (ex-showroom), the Taigun sits in the price bracket of Rs 11.42 lakh to Rs 19.19 lakh (ex-showroom).

Both mid-size SUVs are based on the VW Group's India-centric MQB-AO-IN platform. They get two engine options -- 3-cylinder 1.0-litre TSI (115PS and 178Nm) and 4-cylinder 1.5-litre TSI (150PS and 250Nm). The 1.0-litre unit has 6-speed MT and 6-speed AT options. The 1.5-litre unit only has a 7-speed DSG in the Kushaq, but the Taigun 1.5 has 7-speed DSG as well as 6-speed MT.

In terms of equipment, both SUVs currently offer ventilated front seats, electric driver and co-driver seats, leatherette upholstery, digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and wireless charging. Convenience features include an electric sunroof, cruise control, automatic wipers with a rain sensor, an auto-dimming interior mirror, a cooled glovebox and a rear-view camera with static guidelines.

The Kushaq and the Taigun have secured a 5-star safety rating at Global NCAP. They come equipped with six airbags, ESC, hill-hold control, traction control, rollover protection, brake disc wiping, ISOFIX child-seat anchors and tyre pressure monitoring system.

Skoda is preparing to launch the Kushaq facelift in India in January. This will be the first major update since its introduction in the country in June 2021. We expect the Kushaq facelift to get new LED headlights and taillights, refreshed bumpers, redesigned alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS.
